The Late Mr and Mrs Roelf Vos, the founders of the Grindelwald Swiss Village and the Aspect Tamar Valley Resort, were on a tour of Europe, and for their brief stay in Switzerland, they were booked into a quiet little lakeside village.
That Swiss village was the inspiration for the suburb of Grindelwald and Aspect Tamar Valley Resort.
After a number of trips to Switzerland for ideas, Mr an Mrs Vos started work on their project in 1980.
In 1980 a seven hectare man-made lake, "Lake Louise", was carved out and beside it a small wedding chapel was erected.
The ever popular & exotic lake side wedding chapel has been fitted out with early Australian cedar pews, which were bought at an auction in Campbell Town, Tasmania.
All the houses in the suburb of Grindelwald are built in the best Swiss tradition, with wide eaves, interesting balconies, flower boxes and window shutters.
Though they all have the same ingredients, each house has to be individually designed and is set on a range of between two to five acres, with views of the tranquil lakes, peaceful valley or spectacular Tamar River views.
This unique development was further enhanced by Aspect Tamar Valley Resort, (Formerly the Grindelwald Resort) which opened on 1st May 1989, a delight for both village residents and visitors.
Because of Mr & Mrs Vos's vision many years ago Aspect Tamar Valley Resort now commands one of the finest locations in Australia as a boutique leisure destination.
